VA Matchmaking

  • You want to personally train the VA to your style and company mission (you might even have a proprietary process)
  • You want to create a business relationship and are willing to spend time developing a VA to grow with you and your business
  • You see this as an ongoing, long-term working relationship (even if it’s only 5 hours a week)
  • You want to take the lead on leading the projects and assignments you delegate to your VA
  • You are comfortable with delegating

Considerations

  • If your business is growing rapidly you may have to hire more than one VA
  • Growing and developing a team takes time and effort
  • Having a single VA means you are subject to the VA having sick days, personal days, and taking vacation
  • You will serve as a manager
  • You will need to have difficult conversations

VA Project Team

  • You do not want to train a VA
  • While you may consider yourself relational you simply want to hand over a project and not invest time in developing the VA team
  • This is not an ongoing need. (However, you might like to have a team to handle your projects as they arise)
  • You want a project manager to take the lead for you and have one person report to you
  • You don’t feel comfortable delegating or feel you don’t have time to delegate

Considerations

  • You often pay higher rates
  • The team may not be available the next time you wish to hire them
  • You may not personally get to know all those working on your project
  • Information could get lost in translation as it goes from the project manager to the person performing the work
  • You have deadlines to meet and if they aren’t met the team may not have the flexibility to accommodate you
